Caring about your future
Janice Simpson, Assistant Director, Bradford Adult and Community Services
If you, or a member of your family, need social care support, Bradford Adult and Community Services is responsible for assessing your needs or the needs of the person you are concerned about.
Most older people and people with disabilities choose to live at home, if possible, with help from home care, day care, equipment and adaptations, respite care, supported housing, Extra Care housing or any combination of support. You can find more information about these services within this Directory. Check the contents page at the beginning for details. To discuss the many options available, contact us on 01274 431704 at any time, any day of the week. If appropriate we will carry out an assessment of your needs within 48 hours. We can meet your assessed needs by providing or arranging services for you or by providing a Direct Payment for you to make your own arrangements (insert div with direct pmt info here from p23Directpmts.txt).
If providing care at home is not a realistic option, we may be able to arrange for you to move to one of eight housing with care schemes (known as Extra Care) - we can put your name forward if this would be suitable. Alternatively, we can arrange a place in a care home for you. This Directory lists all such homes within the Bradford District and we have agreed care specifications and contracts with all of them. We may be able to help with the cost of such care but this depends on your savings and income - we will work out the amount we can pay using a nationally set sliding scale. This may mean some people will be responsible for paying the full cost of their care. (See Paying for Your Care)
If a care home or care home with nursing is the best option, use this Directory to help choose the right one for you. It contains important information about all the homes in the District. We can help you work out which home may best suit your needs but the final choice is up to you!
Like other local authorities, Bradford is looking at ways in which we can give service users more choice and control, including people having their own budgets, and redesigning services so that they can more easily contact the Department and get the information they need.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the information in this Directory was correct when printed but details can sometimes change. Please double check when you contact any establishment.
